My dream 16/04/10 part 2

Inside the hole it was dark but I knew my way around it now from all the drills SM had made me do incase something like this happened. Using the cold brick wall as a guidance I made my way to the corner that had three bags. One bag had food, one bag had clothes, and the last bag was a water pack. Grabbing the bags I whispered to the girls follow my voice, stay quiet and we will be safe ok? Ok I heard shaky whispers reply, Come to me follow voice, come one after a little while all three found me and hugged me tightly......its going to be ok babies, i will make sure you are safe I said. Follow me on your hands and knees, come on i said and with the girls following me I lead them to a trap door in the floor, lifting it quietly a cold breeze of air came up out of it. Leading down from the trap door was a ladder, 'ok girls, Learna leading the way climb down the ladder one at a time and remember stay quiet, i will follow after you. A the girls climb down one at a time, I opened the bag of doof and searched until I found a small envelope. placing and leaving the envelope by the trap door, closing the door i climbed down the ladder. It was alot colder then I thought it would be and the outside skies had darkened.

When i got to the bottom Learna, S and M were all waiting for me. Learna whispered 'are we under the house Leah?', yes, hun we are i said. Looking about, I found the camoflage blanket that we placed down here. 'Ok girls, we need to wait till it is a little darker outside and then we can escape into the forest. your being so brave and quiet, we just need to keep it up for a little bit longer, ok?'. 'ok' they whispered.
Sitting down by a the houses foundation wall, the girls and I snuggled together with the blanket over us. Grabbing the food bag, i found the compass, map and a tiny torch and kept them ready to use. We could hear the gunman yelling although I couldn't make out what he was saying and he was stomping all over the house making sure we went there. At one time I thought he might find us cos he looked in the big cupboard but he musnt have looked very hard cos noone came down after us. The girls were trembling, but I'm not sure if that was because they were scared or because of the cold so holding them close i said 'its going to be fine babies, he won't find us as long as we stay quiet' but at the same time I was praying in my head 'lord keep us safe and protect us please, and tell SM I love him and I will count the days down until i'm up there and with him again'.

It didn't seem that long but after awhile the sky was pitch black and the gunman had given up looking for us. Next thing I heard was the front door opening which was just metres from us and heard footsteps coming down the front door stairs followed by a scraping sound.......Oh my lord, hes moving the bodies I thought to myself, my chest tightened up as I heard the sickening thud as some body part hit the stairs one after the other and then the gravel. I struggled to hold the vile down and kept my emotions in check, I have to stay strong for the girls I thought I have to keep them safe. The girls had fallen into a light sleep so they would not hear anything or relive it over and over again in their minds like I would. As the first body was dragged to the ute, and then second body followed at a much slower pace. There was alot of heaving and panting but then I heard a two distinct thumps as the man and woman put the bodies in the back of the ute. Then the ute started and they were gone. I waited for what I thought was about 10 mins and then i woke the girls gently and slowly. Once they were awake, I said ok we are going to make a run for the forest ok, we need to stay together, and we need to stay under the blanket, alright?' 'I'm scared' M started crying. 'I know sweetheart but we have to stay strong for a little bit longer, ok. its gonna be alright'. We walked in crouched positions to the door that lead out from under the house. 'Ready?, now everyone stay under the blanket and together.......go'

We ran as fast as an adult and three girls could run in a group, as if satan himself was chasing us. Then I noticed the ute was coming back up the driveway, and we had only got about halfway to the forest. 'Shit, M, S and Learna we need to run faster otherwise the ute will see us, you girls have to run by yourself as fast as you can towards forest GO, RUN!!!. The girls took off as fast as they could, I stayed just behind them, the ute was getting closer. "please lord, don't let them see us' I said. The girls were just about there when S tripped and fell over. 'Run Learna and M, I'll get her go' learna and M had just gotten in the safety of the forest when the ute lights flashed over the forests. I saw the light coming towards where S and me were sitting, 'shit they are gonna see us'. Then i did the only thing I could think of I threw the blanket over us, just as the lights flashed over us. I was waiting for the car to stop because the man and woman had seen us, i was waiting for the gun shots........but nothing happened. I peeked out from under the blanket and checked to see what was going on. The ute was still driving up to the house, I stood up picked up S and ran to the forest.
